Music and Art Exhibition
A Journey Through Sound and Image
The "Music and Art Exhibition" is an innovative art experience that uniquely combines visual art and music. In this concept, each artwork is accompanied by its own music, deepening and enriching the viewer's experience. Together with visual artist Katariina Kirves, we create exhibitions that invite audiences on a journey through art and history, bringing local stories and cultural heritage to life.
In future exhibitions, we will explore various themes, such as the beauty of nature, historical events, and cultural traditions. Each exhibition offers an opportunity to immerse oneself in a new world where music and visual art blend, creating unforgettable moments and a deeper understanding.
The Music and Art Exhibition invites viewers to engage and experience the diversity of art. We believe this concept opens new dimensions in the art world, and we look forward to future collaborations that will allow us to expand the boundaries of art together.

"Muutoksen virtaus" - Music & Art Exhibition at Kangasala 4.-17.11.2024
Violinist Lotta Marie and visual artist Katariina Kirves are presenting a joint art exhibition, "Flow of Change," at Villa Armas Gallery in Kangasala, starting on November 3, 2024. The exhibition will be open for two weeks and is inspired by the rich natural and cultural history of the Kangasala region.
The opening event on November 3 at 6 p.m. will feature a special performance where Lotta Marie improvises live music as Katariina Kirves creates a new artwork in front of the audience. This unique live artwork is part of the opening program, offering visitors the chance to witness the creation of art and music in real time.
"Flow of Change" uniquely combines visual art and music. Katariina Kirves's works, created with experimental materials, depict the landscapes and historically significant locations of Kangasala, such as the ancient surroundings of the Sarsa River. Sarsa, one of Finland's oldest inhabited sites, experienced a dramatic change in 1604 when it dried up overnight. The exhibition also highlights the area's cultural history through figures like Queen Catherine Månsdotter and Catherine Hansdotter, mistresses of the Liuksiala and Vääksy manors, and the 19th-century landscapes of Kangasala painted by Eero Järnefelt.
Each artwork in the exhibition is accompanied by a musical composition by Lotta Marie. "We wanted to create an exhibition where the visual and auditory worlds merge, revealing the deeper layers of the landscapes and history," the artists explain. The music and art take visitors on a journey through time, covering thousands of years of Kangasala's history from post-Ice Age settlements to the present day.
The exhibition has been supported by the Björkqvist Foundation of the City of Kangasala.
